If Claude says it has no connectors

You found Vertiso Memory in the Connectors directory, added it, signed in, granted access, and went back to your chat. Then Claude told you it does not see any connectors. You tried again. Same answer.

Nothing is wrong with your account. This is a bug in Claude on the web, and it is the single biggest reason people connect Vertiso Memory and never save a memory. This post is the fix, in the order of least effort, and then the longer story for anyone who wants it.

The two-minute fix

Your connection is already made. It lives on your Claude account, not in the browser tab. You only need a Claude client that reads it.

Open Claude Desktop, or the Claude mobile app. Sign in with the same account. Vertiso Memory is already there. Say something worth keeping, then say "remember that." You should see an approval dialog for a vertiso-memory tool. That is the whole fix, and it is the one we recommend.

If you work in a terminal, use Claude Code. Install the vmem CLI and let it wire the client for you:

curl -fsSL https://memory.vertiso.ai/install.sh | sh
vmem mcp install claude-code

vmem mcp install with no argument opens a picker. It can configure Cursor, VS Code, Codex, JetBrains and others the same way.

If you want to stay in the browser, turn the connector on per chat. In the message box, click +, choose Connectors, and switch Vertiso Memory on. If Claude still says it has no tools, tell it to check: "Call the hello tool from Vertiso Memory." It will find the tool and ask you to approve it. You have to repeat the + step in every new chat, which is why this is the last option on the list.

How to tell it is working

  • Claude asks you to approve a vertiso-memory tool call. That prompt only appears when the connector is actually reachable.
  • Sign in at memory.vertiso.ai. The memory you just saved is on the Memories page, typed and summarized.
  • From the terminal, vmem ls shows the same thing.

If none of those happen, Claude answered from its own context and nothing was stored. Go back a step.

Make the first call automatic

Once the connector is reachable, there is one more habit worth setting. Assistants do not reach for memory unless you tell them to. Paste this into your custom instructions (Settings, then Personalization, in any Claude client):

Before any work, call hello from Vertiso Memory to load my rules and context. When I say "remember that," store it with remember.

The guide has the full version and the same tip for other clients.

What is actually broken

We reproduced this twice on 2026-09-01, on two accounts, one of them a paid Claude account with a brand-new Vertiso Memory account and zero memories. The same server worked without any change in Claude Desktop, Cowork, Claude Code and the mobile app. On the web, three things stack:

  1. A connector added in Settings never reaches the chat's tool list. Settings shows it connected. The conversation does not know it exists.
  2. The + button is a separate path. It works, but Anthropic documents it as applying to that conversation only. A new chat starts from zero.
  3. The model says "no tools" without looking. Even after the + step has worked, Claude will often assert it has nothing to call until you ask it to check. This is what makes the workaround feel broken when it is not.

What we have done about it

We reported the reproduction, the surface matrix and the numbers on Anthropic's public tracker, anthropics/claude-ai-mcp#476, where the same defect has been open since June. We have also raised it with the directory review team directly. When Anthropic ships a fix we will update this post and the docs.

In the meantime, the install docs cover every client, Desktop and the CLI included.

If you hit something this post does not cover, write to support@vertiso.ai. A screenshot of what Claude said is the most useful thing you can send.
